LAHORE – All public and private schools across the Punjab are closed for more than two months every year on account of Summer Vacations to save students from scorching heat.

The temperature has soared to 33 degree Celsius in Punjab capital city of Lahore and other cities as it is likely to increase further in coming days. According to weather forecast, the temperature is expected to surge to 39°C during the month of May 2024 while it would cross 40°C in June 2024.

The high temperature can cause heatstroke, dehydration and others, putting the lives of the students at risk. It is the why the administration prefers to shut the schools across the province for over two months.

Last year, Summer Vacations started from June 6 and continued till August 20, 2023. All schools resumed their educational activities from August 21.

Punjab Summer Holidays 2024

It is expected that summer vacations 2024 would start from June 7 (Friday) while the schools would reopen on August 19 (Monday).

However, a final decision about the summer vacations 2024 will be taken by the education department after reviewing all aspects.
