LAHORE – The students continued to protest for a second day against the alleged rape with a student at a private college in Lahore.
Despite government assurances and the announcement of an investigative committee regarding the incident, the students took to the streets again to demonstrate.
In Lahore, the students protested and staged a sit-in outside the Punjab Assembly on Mall Road while a heavy police presence was deployed in front of the assembly.
Besides Lahore, the college students in other cities of Punjab also joined the protests.
In Multan, the students vandalized the college building on Bosan Road, prompting police to use batons and arrest dozens of students.
In Jahanian, students organized a motorcycle rally, and in Zafarwal, they set tires on fire, blocking traffic and demanding justice and a transparent investigation into the matter.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz formed a six-member investigative committee headed by the Chief Secretary to investigate the matter.
However, according to the police investigations, there is no truth in the incident, and the security guard has denied it.
They ssid they did not find any evidence of sexual assault.
