Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdullah Nayyar Sheikh has said strict security arrangements will be ensured during the holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram. Chairing a meeting of District Emergency Board, he reviewed the Muharram arrangements and said that 443 mourning processions and 1281 Majalis would be organised across the district during first 10 days of the Muharram.
In this connection, all concerned departments including Rescue-1122, Civil Defence, District Health Authority, Punjab Food Authority, Zila Council, Municipal Corporation, Parking Company, WASA, SNGPL, FESCO, PTCL, etc. should finalise their arrangements for observing Ashura Muharram-ul-Haram in a most befitting manner.
He also directed the Police Department to evolve a comprehensive strategy for providing tight and foolproof security to the mourning processions and majalis. In this connection, a control room would also be established at DC Office to monitor Muharram related arrangements, he added.
He also ordered to activate all existing CCTV cameras in addition to installing hi-tech cameras on procession routes. He also ordered to remove all kinds of wall-chalking across the district besides ensuring fully functioning of sewerage system and completing patch works of the roads.—APP
