Japan national, Pakistani organizations win ‘Ambassador’s Commendations’
Ambassador of Japan Mr Wada Mitsuhiro on Wednesday conferred the ‘Japanese Ambassador’s Commendations’ on MsShirai Mariko, Lahore Sogetsu Study Group and Lahore Bonsai Society for their contributions to strengthen Pakistan-Japan cultural and traditional ties.
The commendation-awarding ceremony was held at the ambassador’s official residence.
The Japanese Ambassador’s Commendations are awarded to persons or organizations in acknowledgement and in commendation of the significant contributions or distinct service in strengthening the bond of friendship between Japan and Pakistan in accordance with the work of the Embassy of Japan.
General Manager of the Cox & Kings Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd Ms. Shirai Mariko has played a significant role as the point of contact for the Japanese travelers in Pakistan for the last many years.
Ambassador Wada, speaking on the occasion, praised her active contributions to the Japanese community in Islamabad and thanked her for building bridges between the two cultures and supporting the important work of the embassy.
Similarly, Lahore Sogetsu Study Group, a cultural organization of the Japanese-style flower arrangement, Ikebana was chosen for promoting Japanese culture and traditions through Ikebana.
Ambassador Wada appreciated the voluntary display of Ikebana arts at Japan’s Emperor’s Birthday and Self-Defense Forces Day receptions, and admired the Lahore Sogetsu Study Group’s love for Japanese culture.
The third recipient—Lahore Bonsai Society— is a cultural organisation of Japanese-style potted trees. The Japanese ambassador shared his experience and fondness for the art of Bonsai, and hoped for the continuing collaborations with them while thanking their voluntary contributions of Bonsai display to Japan’s receptions.
Later, GM, Cox & Kings Pakistan (Pvt) Ms. Shirai, President Lahore Sogetsu Study Group Ms. Neveen Syed and President Lahore Bonsai Society, MrMianUmairwere presented the certificates of commendations as well as the memorial trophies.
