Stem Cell Therapy is the most effective treatment and beacon of hope for the patients suffering from various diseases.
These include Autism, Spina Bifida, Cerebral Palsy, Liver disease, Erectile Dysfunction, Osteoarthritis, Cosmetology, Spinal Cord injury, Kidney diseases.
This was elaborated by Prof. Mahmood Shaukat (Former Principal, Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore) here on Tuesday.
While addressing a seminar in a local hotel he said, Stem Cells are harvested by extracting fats from the patient’s own body through a simple procedure known as ‘Liposuction’.
The harvested stem cells are then injected back into the patient at the required site; the diseased cells are thus replaced by new and healthy stem cells.
Seminar was held under the aegis of a local hospital, Ramzan Ali Syed Hospital that also housed country’s first cutting edge stem cell lab.
He said this is an absolutely new concept for the people of Pakistan, whereas this method has been in use for decades in various countries of the developed world for a variety of medical conditions.
Closing his statement, he concluded that it was indeed the greatest Medical Innovation of the Century.
Addressing the seminar, Prof Dr. Fridoon Jawad Ahmad, a renowned genetics scientist highlighting the stem cell has said it is a cell with the unique ability to develop into specialized cell types in the body.
