Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) authorities have taken decisive action against gas theft, resulting in the disconnection of 400 houses in Sukkur, along with targeted raids conducted in Larkana and Karachi to curb illegal activities.

In a significant case of gas theft in Sukkur’sJaffarabad area, the Sui Southern Gas Company’s (SSGC) Distribution team, led by the Zonal Manager, uncovered illegal gas connections extended to seven non-gasified villages. These connections, discovered during a raid, were promptly dismantled, and 400 houses found utilizing gas illegally were disconnected. The approximate volume of theft amounted to 384,000 cubic meters per year. In a separate operation, the Counter Gas Theft Operations (CGTO) Wing, Larkana, collaborated with the Recovery Department and SSGC Police to conduct a joint raid at a laundry facility. The culprit was caught using a 15 KVA gas generator connected to a suspected tampered meter and regulator. The equipment was removed and sent to a laboratory for testing, with a total connected load of 360 cubic feet/hour. Claims for damages will be pursued accordingly.

Meanwhile, in Karachi, the CGTO Operations Wing, accompanied by Company Police and the Recovery Department, conducted a joint raid in Muhammad Ali Society. It was discovered that customers were using gas for commercial activities through domestic meters. As a result, four disconnections were made, and claims for compensation are currently underway.

These concerted efforts demonstrate the authorities’ commitment to combating gas theft and ensuring the integrity of gas supply networks across various regions.
