Begum Samina Alvi, the wife of President Pakistan and the souse of Punjab Governor Begum Perveen Sarwar participated in an event organized in connection with “Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign”.
According to details, Punjab Women’s Development Minister Ashfa Riaz and a large number of women attended the function held at Governor’s House on MOnday.
While speaking on the occasion, Begum Samina Alvi said that breast cancer is a dangerous disease but with a few precautions, it can be controlled. She appreciated that doctors, civil society and NGOs have done a great job in raising awareness about breast cancer and the media has also played an exemplary role in this awareness campaign.
Mrs. Arif Alvi further said that awareness about breast cancer needs to be provided not only in the month of October but also throughout the year. This problem affects not only the developing countries but also the developed countries.
Every year 1.3 million women are diagnosed with it and thousands of women die. The global mortality rate is 3.4% but in Pakistan, this level is dangerously high, ie 45%. The biggest reason for the spread of the disease is the lack of awareness.
The spouse of Punjab governor said that women should not ignore any minor change in breasts. Women should see a qualified doctor immediately as breast cancer can be treated in Pakistan as well.
If the mother has breast cancer, so can the daughter. Begum Parveen Sarwar said that one of the major causes of cancer is tension and depression.
She added more that Sarwar Foundation is playing its vital role in raising awareness among women across the country. Women should set aside at least 5 minutes a day for themselves so that lives can be saved with timely diagnosis and treatment of any disease.
