ISLAMABAD – Sui Northen Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) has started installations of RLNG-based domestic gas connections in several regions. The decision is a much needed move considering the stark reality of diminishing local gas reserves.

Sui Northen Gas Pipeline Limited opened new gas connections in over 100 private housing societies.

A notification shared by gas company titled ‘Provision of gas connections on RLNG basis in privately developed housing schemes,’ confirmed the installations of new gas connections.

As people were looking for new connections for years, SNGPL started providing regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG)-based gas connections based on pending lists generated through IT systems in private housing societies.

Over 100 private housing societies have RLNG network and residents in these localities will get new connections in phases.

The new connections will be applicable to extensions, or blocks of existing housing societies that are supplied with RLNG in accordance with the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) policy, the notification said.

For the unversed, RLNG connections will only be provided to housing societies, phases, or blocks that have not yet received regular gas connections.

Lately, the work for these connections has been underway, as approval from the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) includes the laying of networks in private housing societies as part of the proposal submitted to the Secretary Petroleum.

RLNG-based connections will be provided on an individual meter basis according to relevant terms and conditions.

Top officials of SNGPL has directed all concerned departments to arrange and allocate resources, meters, and service line materials. The resumption of domestic gas connections stemmed to decision made by the Apex Committee of SIFC.

The outgoing government has taken crucial step by approving policy to provide Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) to new domestic consumers and private housing societies.
