RAWALPINDI – Intense clashes between Pakistani armed forces and militants resulted in casualties on both sides, the military’s media wing said.
A statement shared by Inter-Services Public Relations ISPR said two intense encounters held on September 19 and 20, in which six soldiers were martyred, and twelve terrorists were killed in the North and South Waziristan districts of Pakistan.
In the first incident, security forces thwarted the attempt of group of seven terrorists attempting to infiltrate the Pak-Afghan border in the Spinwam area. The terrorists were surrounded, leading to a fierce firefight that resulted in their elimination. During this operation, a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was also recovered.
The second incident occurred in the Ladha area of South Waziristan, in which a group of terrorists launched an attack on a security forces checkpost. The troops successfully defended their position, killing five of the attackers. Unfortunately, six soldiers lost their lives during this intense exchange of fire.
The military’s media wing confirmed that sanitization operations are currently underway to clear the area of any remaining militants. Armed forces remain resolute in mission to eradicate terrorism from the region, with the sacrifices of these brave soldiers serving to strengthen their determination.
