Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has written a letter to UNO Secretary General António Guterres and leaders of different countries demanding practical steps for the protection of minorities in India.
India, read the letter, has turned into a largest prison for the Muslims and other religious minorities where their persecution continued under the umbrella of police and other security agencies. Turning the attention of international community towards the recent violence in Delhi in which over 50 people lost their lives, Siraj reminded them their responsibility to protect the marginalized communities.
He said mosques and houses were burnt and destroyed in the violence against Muslims in Delhi and the entire world had seen on TV screens how the goons of Hindutva led the mobs bent upon killing every Muslim in India’s capital city.
He feared another episode of Rohingya like crisis could be repeated if timely steps were not taken by the UNO to stop the BJP-RSS led madness in the world so-called biggest democracy. Raising concern over the controversial citizenship act adopted by Indian parliament, he said the world must put pressure on Modi to withdraw the bill.
The JI chief emphasized the need for solution of Kashmir issue according to the UN resolutions. He said people of Kashmir who had been living in a miserable condition under the illegal occupation of India for seven decades must be allowed to exercise their right to self determination granted to them under the various UN resolutions. He expressed regret over the silence of international community on the worst human rights violations in the IHK.
