Chief Secretary Sindh, Syed Asif Hyder Shah, chaired a high-level meeting to discuss the development of key tourist destinations across the province, with the goal of transforming Sindh into a major tourist hub. The meeting, attended by senior officials including MD Green Tourism, Chairman Planning and Development Board Syed Najam Ahmed Shah, and Secretary Culture Khair Muhammad Kalwar, focused on boosting the tourism sector and improving the infrastructure of iconic sites.

The Chief Secretary emphasized the importance of modernizing Sindh’s tourism offerings to attract both domestic and international tourists. The meeting primarily discussed development plans for prominent locations such as Keenjher Lake, Haleji Lake, Gorakh Hill Resort, and the UNESCO World Heritage site Mohenjo Daro.

These sites, rich in historical, cultural, and natural significance, are seen as key drivers for showcasing Sindh’s diverse tourism potential.  The proposed developments at Keenjher Lake and Haleji Lake aim to create eco-tourism hubs with water sports, guided tours, and environmental conservation activities.

At Gorakh Hill, the focus will be on upgrading road access, expanding lodging facilities, and adding more recreational activities.  Special attention will also be given to improving visitor services at Mohenjo Daro, with plans for a state-of-the-art visitor center and enhanced guided tours to raise global awareness about the archaeological site. In addition to these iconic sites, the meeting also recognized other cultural landmarks such as Makli Necropolis, Shah Jahan Mosque, and Rani Kot Fort, along with natural landscapes like the

Thar Desert and Indus Delta, as integral parts of Sindh’s tourism offering. The Chief Secretary highlighted the need for collaboration with local communities and the private sector to organize engaging activities, such as motorbike rallies and desert safaris, to promote the province’s tourism.

He also emphasized the importance of sustainable tourism practices to preserve Sindh’s natural and cultural heritage for future generations. Shah urged all relevant departments to work together in implementing these development projects, focusing on sustainability, and promoting Sindh’s tourism both nationally and internationally.
