Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Excise, Taxation, Narcotics Control, Transport, and Mass Transit SharjeelInamMemon emphasized that President Asif Ali Zardari has issued clear directives that no leniency will be shown towards criminals or facilitators, regardless of their status.

These directives were pivotal in the decisions made during the twenty-first Apex Committee meeting, where significant actions were taken against drug traffickers, illegal immigrants, dacoits, and criminals. Speaking to the media after the Apex Committee meeting at the Chief Minister’s House here on Thirsday, Senior Minister SharjeelInamMemon highlighted discussions revolving around narcotics and illegal immigrants.

He mentioned that President Asif Ali Zardari had also discussed narcotics-related issues during a recent meeting, underscoring the seriousness of the matter. Memon expressed concern over the resurgence of drug trafficking activities, warning that if drug traffickers do not cease their operations, they will face dire consequences.

He announced that federal and provincial governments are jointly cracking down on drug traffickers, forming collaborative teams and establishing joint checkpoints in border areas. Furthermore, Memon revealed that the Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department is actively pursuing more than two suspects and has made several arrests. He noted ongoing reforms within the department to combat drug peddlers, particularly targeting those supplying drugs to schools and homes.

Law enforcement agencies, including Rangers, police, and anti-narcotics forces, are conducting operations against drug traffickers in Sindh. Regarding illegal immigrants, efforts are underway to identify and collect data on them, with monitoring planned for areas where illegal immigrants seek refuge. Memon emphasized that illegal immigrants cannot establish residence unlawfully in any country, and those residing illegally in Pakistan will be repatriated to their home countries, in accordance with national policy.

Shrjeel Memon also addressed developments related to the recent attack on the Karachi Police Office, expressing concern over the involvement of a madrassa teacher in the incident. He emphasized the need to thwart the nefarious intentions of such elements wherever they exist.

Highlighting the President’s directives, Memon reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards criminals and their facilitators. Stringent actions are being taken against criminals across Karachi, with political leadership, police, and the public working together to combat street crime effectively.

Furthermore, Memon disclosed significant decisions made regarding the display of firearms, stressing that individuals, regardless of their status, will not be permitted to display firearms without proper authorization. Strict enforcement measures will be taken against anyone displaying firearms without a license.
