Sindh govt, UNICEF collaborate on child welfare programs

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah held a crucial meeting with UNICEF Country Representative Abdullah A. Fadil to discuss collaborative efforts in various sectors. The meeting, attended by Health Minister Dr. AzraPechuho, Chief Secretary AsifHyder Shah, Education Secretary Zahid Abbas, Health Secretary RehanBaloch, Social Welfare Secretary Sajid Jamal Abro, and others, focused on UNICEF’s involvement in key government initiatives. Highlighting UNICEF’s integral role in significant projects across Sindh, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah underscored the directive from Chairman Bilawal Bhutto to ensure clean drinking water access in every village.

“The provision of clean drinking water to every village is our top priority,” affirmed Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, emphasizing its potential to mitigate diseases. The meeting also facilitated an exchange of views on ongoing UNICEF programs in Sindh, including efforts to combat polio. UNICEF’s country representative commended the Sindh government’s initiative to provide free birth registration services, emphasizing its importance.

Both the Sindh government and UNICEF are actively collaborating on nutrition, polio eradication, and maternal and child health programs. Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah lauded UNICEF’s contributions to successful nutrition programs across various districts of Sindh. He expressed hope that the nutrition program would address stunted growth in children effectively. UNICEF is also actively engaged in child protection programs in Sindh, further strengthening its partnership with the provincial government.

Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah extended gratitude to UNICEF for its support in health, education, poverty alleviation, and technical cooperation in Sindh.
