LAHORE – The government of Sindh announced extending summer vacations in all public and private schools of the province till August 14, 2024.
The provincial authorities extended the summer break for all educational institutes in light of weather conditions that remain hot and humid.

Sindh education minister said the vacations were extended till August 14 amid heatwave and monsoon season which could affect school-going students.
The recent holidays are sigh of relief for students as hot and humid weather is oppressive, and it is advisable to stay indoors during peak heat hours, and avoiding coping with the heat.
The provincial governments in Pakistan shut down schools during summer as temperature often exceeds to 40°C. These high temperatures can be dangerous for children, leading to heat-related illnesses like heatstroke and dehydration.
Such extreme weather conditions also intense heat and can hinder students’ ability to concentrate and learn effectively, especially in schools lacking adequate cooling systems.
Closing schools during this period helps prevent heat-related illnesses and aligns with traditional practices, allowing families to spend time together. This measure ensures the health and safety of students and staff while providing a necessary break in the academic calendar.
