Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah met with the Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Mehmet Paçacı,here on Friday to discuss strategies for boosting bilateral trade between the two countries. During the meeting, the Chief Minister highlighted the federal government’s goal to increase trade with Turkey to $5 billion within the next three years. “Karachi is the commercial hub of Pakistan,” Shah emphasized, expressing his desire for Turkish companies to invest in Sindh.
He suggested that both countries should identify and produce goods that meet each other’s needs to enhance exports.
Ambassador Paçacı noted that Turkey imports tugboats from Pakistan to which Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah responded with a proposal to collaborate on improving the maritime industry. The Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah shared trade statistics, mentioning that from 1995 to 2022, the trade volume between Pakistan and Turkey was $89.8 million. Last year alone, trade reached approximately $900 million. Pakistan’s exports to Turkey have included cotton, cement, and electronic items, and Chief Minister Shah emphasized the need to continue and expand this trade relationship.
