Sindh police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon has ordered station house officers (SHOs) and other police officers against delaying the registration of FIRs, warning them of being dismissed from service. After receiving complaints against police officials and incharges on the portals of the Central Police Office (CPO) and the Karachi Police Office, IG Memon issued a written order. The order states that complainants have been approaching senior officers and even the CPO about the non-registration of FIRs related to cognisable offences, and that despite repeated directives being issued, including verbal directions during periodic meetings of the IG, no visible improvement can be observed.

The order is to be treated as the final warning against the non-registration of FIRs in criminal cases, otherwise such SHOs will be removed immediately, SDPOs will be closed to the CPO, and explanations will be issued to district SSPs for the lack of supervision and command.

According to the order, the CPO will also randomly contact complainants and victims to verify the role of police in the non-registration of FIRs, followed by action against the officers concerned.
