ISLAMABAD – Police in capital city Islamabad arrested several PTI leader Shoaib Shaheen a day after Imran Khan’s party staged massive rally.
Earlier in the day, Sher Afzal Marwat was taken into custody from outside parliament. Despite the action, PTI leaders reiterates support to Imran Khan. Cops can be seen detaning PTI MNA into a vehicle while his supporters tried to intervene.
Following the arrest of several PTI leaders, large number of law enforcement personnel were deployed around National Assembly. Islamabad Police indicated that further arrests of PTI leaders were expected, with officers being stationed both inside and outside Parliament.
PTI leader Zartaj Gul successfully avoided arrest. Along with Zain Qureshi, Aamir Dogar, and Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Gul attempted to leave Parliament. Dogar condemned the arrest of lawmakers, urging the National Assembly speaker and the Senate chairman to address the issue immediately.
Multiple cases have been lodged against PTI leadership for violating an agreement related to the September 8 rally in capital. The first case was filed at Sangjani Police Station, concerns the rally exceeding the agreed-upon time. The second case, at Sumbal Police Station, addresses violations of the designated route, with the convoy passing through Sadaat Colony and Srinagar Highway. The third case, filed at Noon Police Station, involves allegations of stone-throwing incidents targeting SSP Safe City and other officials.
Amid the shocking arrests, Islamabad Red Zone was unexpectedly sealed, causing significant traffic jams in the city. More PTI parliamentarians would be arrested soon.
