ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Awami Muslim League (AML)Chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Wednesday requested the authorities concerned for his shifting from jail to the hospital, citing deteriorating health conditions.
The jail superintendent faced a contempt of court notice for not allowing relatives of Sheikh Rasheed to meet him.
Following a decline in Sheikh Rashid Ahmed’s health while in jail, a plea for hospital transfer has been submitted to the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC).
Sheikh Rasheed said that he should be moved to a government hospital due to his fragile health, and there is a denial of visitation rights. The former interior minister asked the court to mandate a medical examination for his deteriorating health and to request a comprehensive report.

Despite being in judicial remand since May 9 in connection with the events of that day, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed’s arrest took place at the New Town police station for creating chaos as per the registered case.
Subsequently, the court granted a 14-day judicial remand for Sheikh Rasheed, directed the police to transfer him to Adiala jail. Sheikh Rashid Ahmed was presented in the court of ATC Judge Ijaz Asif. The police sought his physical remand but the court rejected the plea.
