Shah Mehmood Qureshi likely to be indicted in GHQ attack case today

RAWALPINDI – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader and former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi was transferred to Adiala Jail, where he is expected to be indicted on Monday (today) in the GHQ attack case related to the events of May 9.

Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Judge Amjad Ali Shah heard 13 out of 14 cases related to May 9 incident at Adiala jail.

During the proceedings, all the accused marked their attendance while the court adjourned hearings for 13 cases until January 6.

Meanwhile, a hearing for one case related to the GHQ attack is scheduled shortly. Former Federal Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, former Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat and other accused appeared before the ATC.

The prosecutors asked the court to cancel the bail of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur due to his absence.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi was brought to Adiala Jail for the hearing, where he is likely to be indicted in the case.

Separately, the Islamabad ATC postponed hearings of the cases filed against PTI leadership under charges of protests and vandalism without conducting proceedings.

ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Supra adjourned the case registered at I-9 Police Station until January 8.

MNA Khurram Nawaz appeared before the court for the hearing while Faisal Javed Khan submitted a request for exemption from appearance.

Besides it, hearing for two cases registered at Khanna Police Station were postponed until January 13, while a case filed at Bara Kahu Police Station was adjourned until January 6.
