The Sindh Environmental Protection Agency Regional Office Hyderabad collected samples of the waste water of the joint wastewater treatment plant installed by the Sindh government in the site Kotri. According to the analysis report, the treatment plant was not found upto standard of Sindh Environmental Quality Standard 2014.
The SEPA has issued personal hearing notices to 25 industries in the site area under the Environment Act, 2014, ordering 18 industries to stop their production, and personal hearing notices have also been issued to MD Site, Chief Engineer Site Kotri and Chief Engineer Irrigation Kotri Barrage and they have been directed to appear before Director General of SepaNaeem Ahmed Mughal on August 22, 2024 to clarify their position.
On the directives of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) DrFarukh Ali, crackdown against narcotics and criminals was continued, In this connection, Qasimabad Police claimed to have arrested a drug peddler and recovered marijuana from his possession. SHO Inspector Ashfaq Ahmed Mangi under supervision of ASP HussainWaris acting on a tip-off foiled marijuana supply bid and held an accused AnwerBajwa and recovered 1200 kg marijuana from his possession. As per criminal record of the accused, AnwerBajwa was wanted to Hyderabad and other police stations in 11 cases including theft and robbery. Further Investigation was underway.
