Secretary Health Imran Sikandar Baloch reviewed the current situation of Dengue in the whole province and directed directed the Department to intensify the dengue prevention activities across the Punjab.
In this regard, he appealed to take special care of cleanliness and no garbage should be thrown in open places and Precautionary measures against Dengue are very important. Citizens should be more responsible in preventing Dengue.
During the last 24 hours, 594 confirmed cases of dengue were reported across the province out of which 452 confirmed cases were reported in Lahore, 49 from dengue patients were reported from Rawalpindi, 12 from Gujranwala and Sheikhupura, 9 from Sargodha, 8 From Faisalabad, 7 from Bahawalpur, 5 from Attock, Kasur and Rahim Yar Khan, while 4 from Pakpattan and Sahiwal respectively.
So far this year, 43 Deaths due to Dengue fever has been reported from all over Punjab. In last 24 hours 3 deaths have been reported all over the province. All of the deceased were from Lahore.
Similarly, 13,483 confirmed cases of dengue have been reported from across the province while 9,056 confirmed cases of dengue have been reported from Lahore so far and a total of 2,306 patients are undergoing treatment across Punjab out of which 1,489 patients are in Lahore hospitals while 817 patients are under treatment in other districts of Punjab.
In last 24 hours 412, 209 indoor locations were checked across the Punjab while 99,299 outdoor locations were checked, while larvae were destroyed from 1,610 locations.
In Lahore 65,117 indoor places were checked for dengue larvae 9,676 outdoor locations were checked and 1,135 positive containers were destroyed.
In this regard, Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch said that precautionary measures against dengue should also be taken besides of taking precautionary measures against Corona epidemic.
He appealed to all the religious scholars of Punjab to inform the worshipers coming to the mosques about the prevention of dengue further said do not allow the storage of water at indoor and outdoor places; as hygiene can prevent dengue mosquito breeding. Be a responsible citizen by keep your surroundings neat and clean.
He further said that the public is requested to extend full cooperation to the health department teams if they come to your home or business centers for the checking of dengue larvae, as dengue can be very fatal and is a very dangerous fever which can cause death.
