The protesting government employees of various provincial departments especially teachers have announced to suspend their protest rallies and sit in across the district Attock after the district police officer (DPO) apprised them of potential security threat. The threat alert was issued by district Attock Police in which the leadership of All Government Employees Grand Alliance (AGEGA) and All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) local chapter over the potential security threat to the protesting government employees.
The district Police in its advisory issued to the protesting employees states that “recently some threats have been received which reveals that elements pertaining to elements of hostile intelligence agencies with the intention of carrying out sabotage at any place in circulation. Therefore, possibility of concurrence of any pleasant incident during the protest of government employees cannot be ruled out.” The advisory further states that “the teachers’ union should be bound to not to hold any kind of protest in public or open places or roads where there is a security risk by gathering or in the form of groups in order to avoid any untoward incident”.
Malik Muhammad Afzaal, President All Government Employees Grand Alliance (AGEGA) in his notification issued to the protesting employees instructed that keeping in view the advisory issued by DPO Attock, there would be no sit in would be held or protest rally would be taken out across the district. The notification further said that the peaceful protest would be continued and pen down strike would be observed in all the provincial government offices till appetence of the demands by the caretaker provincial government. He directed the employees to wear black ribbon and no gathering should be made in any office or public places.
In this regard a separate notification issued by President All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) Attock chapter President Malik Zahid Mehmood directed the protesting employees to suspend their mass protest especially rallies at public places keeping in view the potential threat of the hostile elements.
Subsequently, there was no mass protest or sit-in observed in Attock on Wednesday. The academic activities in all primary, middle, high male as well as female schools and colleges at all six tehsils of the district Attock were also suspended on fourteenth day. No academic session was conducted in any school and staff remain present in their respective schools observing pen down strike.
