KARACHI – Sindh government has announced security measures for the first 10 days of first Islamic month of Muharram, which is expected to begin on July 7 in Pakistan.
The Home Department has issued a notification in this regard, imposing section 144 across the province. It said that there will be a ban on hold rallies and processions in Muharram without permission from the authorities.
It has also announced a ban on pillion riding in Karachi and other cities on Muharram 9 and 10. There will also be a ban on display of weapons and flying drones during these days.
Ashura 2024 is expected to fall on July 17, 2024 (Wednesday). The tenth of first Islamic month Muharram holds significance as people make special preparations for this occasion every year.
The first month of the Islamic year used to be observed with reverence by Muslims. The day commemorates the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain R.A, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad SAW.
