Second Test: Pakistan lose seven wickets for 136 runs against Bangladesh

RAWALPINDI  – In the second innings of the second Test match against Bangladesh, Pakistan on Monday lost 7 players at a score of 136 runs, with Salman Ali Agha and Mohammad Ali still at the crease.

Resuming the fourth day at 9 runs for the loss of 2 wickets, opener Saim Ayub was caught out on 20 runs off Taskin Ahmed at a total score of 47.

Following him, captain Shan Masood returned to the pavilion after scoring 28 runs at a total score of 62.

Experienced batsman Babar Azam also failed to perform, managing only 11 runs before being dismissed.

Babar Azam has been unable to deliver in the entire series.

Vice-captain Saud Shakeel was out for just 2 runs, while wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan played an innings of 43 runs before being caught out off Hasan Mahmood’s delivery.

Bangladeshi bowlers Nahid Rana and Hasan Mahmood took three wickets each, while Taskin Ahmed secured one wicket.

Third Day

At the end of the third day, Pakistan had lost 2 wickets for just 9 runs in their second innings. Abdullah Shafique was dismissed for 3, and Khurram Shehzad for 0. Pakistan had a lead of 21 runs over the visiting team.

Earlier, Bangladesh’s team was dismissed for 262 runs in response to Pakistan’s first innings total of 274 runs.

For Pakistan, Khurram Shehzad took 6 wickets, while Mir Hamza and Salman Ali Agha claimed 2 wickets each.

On the third day, Pakistani bowlers made a strong comeback. Khurram Shehzad and Mir Hamza displayed aggressive bowling, sending Bangladesh’s top 6 batters back to the pavilion for just 26 runs.

For Bangladesh, Shadman Islam scored 10, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto 4, Mushfiqur Rahim 3, Shakib Al Hasan 2, while Zakir Hasan and Mominul Haque managed only 1 run each.

Later, Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz staged a remarkable recovery for Bangladesh, adding 165 runs for the seventh wicket. Mehidy scored 78 runs, and Litton Das made 138 runs before being dismissed. Taskin Ahmed and Naheed Rana were dismissed for 1 and 0 runs, respectively.

For Pakistan, Khurram Shehzad took 6 wickets, while Mir Hamza secured 2 wickets.

Second Day

Pakistan’s first innings started poorly with the early loss of Abdullah Shafique, who was dismissed for 0. However, captain Shan Masood and Saim Ayub formed a partnership of 107 runs. Shan was dismissed after scoring 57, and Saim Ayub returned to the pavilion with 58 runs.

Middle-order batter Saud Shakeel was dismissed for 16, and Babar Azam could only manage 31 runs. Wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan scored 29, Agha Salman 54, Khurram Shehzad 12, Mohammad Ali 2, and Abrar Ahmed returned to the pavilion after scoring just 9 runs.

For Bangladesh, Mehidy Hasan Miraz took 5 wickets, Taskin Ahmed took 3, and Shakib Al Hasan and Naheed Rana claimed one wicket each.

Earlier, Bangladesh’s captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and opted to field first, aiming to bowl out Pakistan quickly and gain an advantage.

On this occasion, Pakistan’s captain Shan Masood expressed eagerness to win the match. He mentioned that Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah were rested, and Abrar Ahmed and Mir Hamza were included in the playing XI.

First Day

The play on the first day between the two teams was called off due to continuous rain and a wet outfield. The toss was also not possible due to the bad weather.
