ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court on Friday issued notice to former director general of ISI, Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, and others in a petition filed by Shaukat Azizi Siddiqui, the former Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge, challenging his dismissal.
A top court five-member bench headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa took up the case. The bench comprised Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi, and Justice Irfan Saadat Khan.
The bench has also issued notices to ex-Brigadier Irfan Ramay and former Islamabad High Court (IHC) chief Justice Anwar Kasi.
During the hearing, CJP Isa remarked that Siddiqui had made serious allegations against the former spymaster, and others, adding it is necessary to seek reply from those who have been accused in the case.
He however said that a notice could not be issued to former army chief Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa as he was not directly linked to the case.
The case had been scheduled for a hearing earlier this month following a miscellaneous application submitted by Judge Siddiqui to the Supreme Court.
The apex court on Thursday directed former IHC Judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui to identify individuals, including former spy chief General Faiz Hamid, former army chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa, and others involved in his plea against dismissal.
In response to this directive, the former judge submitted a plea seeking the inclusion of Gen Hamid, Gen (retd) Bajwa, Brigadier (retd) Irfan Ramay, Brigadier (retd) Faisal Marwat, former IHC chief justice Anwar Kasi, and ex-SC registrar Arbab Arif as parties in his case.
Senior lawyer Hamid Khan appeared as counsel for former IHC Judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiui.
In this application, he requested an expedited hearing for his plea against the decision made by the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) resulting in his dismissal.
