Saudi Crown Prince, Erdoğan, US envoy lead global welcome of Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif

World leaders including Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, Turkish President, and United States ambassadors among several leaders congratulated Shehbaz Sharif for becoming Pakistan’s Prime Minister for second time.

Shehbaz Sharif was sworn in as prime minister of Pakistan for second term a day after the PM election. As Asian nation picked Sharif as its 24th premier, felicitations from global leaders poured in for him who takes the country’s reigns for a second time.

World leaders extended warm wishes to the newly-elected PM.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman felicitated Sharif. MBS extended wishes to the new prime minister success and the people of Pakistan for progress and prosperity.

US Ambassador Donald Blome

United States envoy to Pakistan Donald Blome also wished Prime Minister Sharif. In a social media post, the ambassador said Washington looks forward to working closely with new government and people of Pakistan on mutual interests.

UK’s David Cameron 

Meanwhile, UK’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs David Cameron said his country is looking forward to working with Sharif led government.

Cameron called it critical time for Asian nation, urging new government to deliver crucial reforms.

Palestinian President Abbas

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas penned a letter congratulating Sharif and expressing his best wishes for his leadership and the nation. He highlighted the strong historical bond between Palestine and Islamabad, noting Pakistan’s consistent support for Palestinian rights and justice. He also prayed for Pakistan’s development and prosperity.

Tajikistan President Rahmon

Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon was also among global leaders who wished new Prime Minister, calling for long-term bilateral partnership between Tajikistan and Pakistan.

Rahmon mentioned strong friendship, mutual understanding, respect, and trust between two sides, stating that their multifaceted cooperation is continually growing and evolving.

Malaysian PM Ibrahim

Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim dialed Pakistani Prime Minister to congratulate him on taking office. In telephonic conversation, Shehbaz expressed Islamabad’s desire to strengthen trade and diplomatic ties with Malaysia.

Earlier, Turkish President Erdogan and Iran’s Raisi also congratulated Shehbaz on his election as Prime Minister.
