Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar appreciated the Rescue Scouts volunteer program of Rescue 1122 and stressed the need for launching RCC App for Rescue Scouts soon. He said that all relevant stakeholders like the education department and other organizations should taken onboard to train and engage the youth for developing safer communities in the country.
Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar convened a meeting at Governor House to evolve a strategy for youth engagement as per the vision of the Prime Minister to establish healthy, safe, resilient and more prosperous communities in the country.
He discussed the proposal for RCC training of college students and giving them 20 marks as given previously for NCC. Similarly, credit hours for university students was also discussed. He also stressed the need to link Rescue Scouts with different organizations like Tevta, chambers and Akhwat to give them further opportunities of skill development leading to livelihood initiatives for prosperous communities.
The Rescue Punjab DG along with senior officers of Headquarters and Academy attended the meeting.
While briefing Governor Ch Sarwar, Punjab Rescue DG Dr Rizwan Naseer said that Punjab Emergency Service (PES) has established over 5,000 Community Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) in all Union Councils of Punjab for management of emergencies and safety promotion. He said that after successful establishment of CERTs at UC level, Rescue Service has planned training first aider in every home, youth in colleges and universities to make them socially responsible citizens.
Dr Rizwan explained about the proposal for youth engagement. In this regard, RCC Mobile App has been developed in consultation with Punjab Information Technical Board to connect all Rescue Scouts (volunteers) of communities and educational institutions for online registrations, trainings and certification after hands on drills practices in colleges and nearest Rescue Stations. The Proposal to give 20 marks for RCC training to the students of colleges and credit hours for University students were also discussed.
