Former captain of the Pakistan Cricket team Salman Butt has managed to rope in Babar Azam and other prominent names for his Ramadan cricket tournament.
Salman Butt will serve as the chief organiser for his Ramadan tournament with the competition set to take place in Lahore.
“Such a tournament is taking place in Lahore for the first time,” said the former captain during a press conference.
“This event will unearth new talent as well,” Butt further added.
Alongside Babar, Shadab Khan, Ihsanullah, Usama Mir, Azam Khan, Usman Qadir, Umar Akmal, Ahsan Ali and Abid Ali have also been confirmed for the event.
According to the details, the tournament will feature eight teams with two slots reserved for international players. The player of the match will be awarded 30,000 rupees.
The organisers will reveal details related to the schedule in due course.
Shadab is currently busy leading the international side during a three-match series against Afghanistan at Sharjah which likely means that the tournament will start after the 27th of March.
Furthermore, Pakistan will host New Zealand beginning April 14th which narrows down the window even further as Babar and other international players will likely be recalled for those games.
Cricket during Ramadan is not a new phenomenon but seeing international players doing that will be a first during the Salman Butt-backed tournament.
