Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has announced plans to pave 55,000 square feet of roads and streets in Orangi Town at a cost of Rs 80 million. He made this statement while addressing media representatives after laying the foundation stone for paving works on various roads and streets in Orangi Town.
Barrister Murtaza Wahab emphasized that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is committed to addressing the people’s problems, with a focus on water, sewerage, infrastructure improvement, and development. He highlighted that development works are being carried out frequently in the suburban areas of Karachi as well.
Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab mentioned that the roads and streets in Orangi Town are being paved under the Annual Development Plan (ADP) scheme. He reiterated that this project has been initiated on a priority basis to address the long-standing issues faced by the residents, particularly women and children, in Orangi area.
He credited the leadership of the PPP for prioritizing the development of the area. Additionally, Barrister Murtaza Wahab stated that efforts are being made to improve parks in Orangi Town, with Afaq Shaheed Park already restored to provide better recreational facilities. He assured that other parks will also be upgraded and equipped with modern amenities to enhance the quality of life for residents. Regarding public safety, he mentioned the establishment of a rabies control center near the KMC fire station in Orangi Town, where work has already commenced.
Furthermore, he informed about the upcoming Safe City project, which aims to improve Karachi through technology-based initiatives. The memorandum of understanding for this project has been signed, and work is expected to commence within the next thirty days.
