Chairperson Lahore Board of Governor Muneeza Hashmi along with Executive Director Alhamra Athar Ali Khan inaugurated “Alhamra Reference Library” on Wednesday at Alhamra Art Centre the Mall.
The work of automation of Alhamra Reference Library has been completed and now the library is house of almost 4000 rare books on literature and culture in English, Urdu and 650 superhit drama scripts.
The Alhamra Reference Library is consisting of rare audio, video, gramophone, scripts and classical music collections and exhibitions to street cards.
On the occasion, Chairperson BOG Lahore Arts Council Ms. Muneeza Hashmi said that Alhamra Reference Library would prove to be a centre of excellence for students working in entertainment industry.
Our students could enhance their research experiences by using the new research center’s special collection in the form of audio cassettes, Cds, press clippings and VHS tapes of various famous festivals, ghazals and dramas. She further said it is not possible to deny the importance of books in the awareness of human consciousness, friendship with books is the secret of any nation’s development.
Lahore Arts Council Executive Director Athar Ali Khan said that Alhamra Reference Library’ s team has worked really hard to create these excellent collections of English & Urdu books, plays, press clippings, video, gramophone, script and audio cassettes which will benefit the generations to come.
He further said that the progress in the field of music, paintings, drama and other art forms was linked to such research centre’s having all the present day requirements.
The Alhamra Reference Library will prove to be an important reference in the field of literature and culture, he added.
