Ramadan 2024: How much Fidya you need to pay for skipping fast this year?

Pakistan’s Shariah Board has set Rs300 as the unified value of Sadaqah-e-Fitr and Fidya for Ramadan 2024.

Board Chairman Professor Dr. Mufti Muhammad Zafar Iqbal Jalali announced the minimum rate for Fidyah, the amount to be given to the needy by those who are not able to fast due to some illness.

The minimum Fitrana amount has been set at Rs300 per person, equal to 2kgs of wheat flour. Fidya for missing a fast due to poor health or other reasons is Rs300 per person.

Shariah Board chairman highlighted the significance of giving Sadaqah-e-Fitr and Fidya as per your financial capacity. The values set for different food items are Rs600 for oats, Rs2,400 for dates, and Rs4,400 for raisins.

For the entire Holy Month, Fidya rates set at Rs9,000 for wheat flour, Rs18,000 for oats, Rs72,000 for dates, and Rs132,000 for raisins. For the unversed, Fidya is amount to be given to poor by those who are ill or unable to fast with no prospect of recovery.

Let it be known that travelers and those temporarily unable to fast are required to make up for missed fasts, as Fidya cannot be a substitute for abstaining from fasting.
