Rains, hailstorms likely in Peshawar, parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

PESHAWAR – Rain-wind/thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms are likely in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday night, Friday and Saturday.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave prevails over western parts of Pakistan. It will likely grip most upper/central parts of the country on Friday.

Under the influence of this weather system, rain-wind/thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms are likely in Dera Ismail Khan, Lucky Marwat, Bannu, Tank, Waziristan, Kirk, Kohat, Karam, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Buner and Malakand on Thursday night and the following two days.

Isolated moderate to heavy rainfall may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Dir, Swat, Chitral, Manshera, Kohistan and Kashmir from 27th to 29th April. Landslides are also likely in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Windstorms/hailstorms and lightning may affect human lives, standing crops, and loose structures like electric poles and solar panels.

Peshawar’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 31-33 degrees Celsius on Friday and 30-32 C on Saturday.

Meanwhile, dry weather prevailed over most parts of the province during the last 24 hours. However, Parachinar received 03 mm of rain.

Dera Ismail Khan remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 37 C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 39 per cent.

In Peshawar, maximum temperature was recorded at 32 C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 69 per cent.
