Rains forecast for Lahore, parts of Punjab

LAHORE – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast partly cloudy weather with chances of rains for Lahore and parts of Punjab during the next two days.

According to the synoptic situation, a westerly wave is affecting the western and upper parts of Pakistan.

It will likely persist in the upper parts of the country during the next few days.

Under these conditions, cold weather is expected in most parts of Punjab and partly cloudy in upper districts on Tuesday evening/night, Wednesday and Thursday.

However, rain with snowfall over the mountains is expected in Murree and Galliyat.

Snowfall may affect transportation on Tuesday night and Wednesday.

Tourists are advised to remain cautious.

Rain is also likely in Attock, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, Sargodha, Mianwali, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, Lahore and Kasur.

Shallow to moderate fog will likely persist in Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Okara, Kasur, Jhang, Sargodha, Toba Tek Singh, Khanewal, Multan, Khanpur, Rahimyar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan and surroundings during morning and night hours.

Lahore’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 08-10 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and Thursday.

Meanwhile, cold weather prevailed over most parts of the province during the last 24 hours.

Murree remained the coldest place in the province where mercury dropped to freezing point.

Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 59 per cent.

In Lahore, minimum temperature was recorded at 08 C.
