LAHORE – Provincial capital Lahore witnessed a downpour on Saturday as several areas of the city received showers, but only for brief period.
Several areas including Gulberg, Mall Road, Muslim Town, Iqbal Town and several other localities received spells of first monsoon rain. Showeres accompanied by strong wind turned weather pleasant in metropolis, as the mercury dropped, the masses breathed a sigh of relief.
Humidity however increases after rain while several areas faced power breakdowns due to grid failure.

A shallow westerly wave is present over northeast Punjab, Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas. Met Office said hot and humid weather is expected in most districts of the province. rain-windstorm is expected at isolated places in Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Narowal, Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Lahore, Sahiwal, Okara, Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalnagar.
On Sunday, mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most districts of the province. However, rain-windstorm, and thundershower is expected at isolated places in Murree, Galliyat, Gujranwala, Narowal and Sialkot.
Met Department forecasts hot, humid weather for most of Pakistan, with some regions expecting rainfall as monsoon rains commence in Sindh, particularly Karachi, and spread to other areas.
Heavy rains are expected within 24 hours as monsoon winds advance, potentially causing flooding in rivers, canals, and urban areas, especially in northeastern and southeastern regions. Above-normal rainfall is anticipated in July and August, raising concerns about widespread flooding.
Residents in vulnerable areas are urged to stay alert and take precautions. The anticipated rains will provide relief from the prevailing heat and humidity.
