LAHORE – Rain-wind/thunderstorms with isolated hailstorms are likely in Lahore and parts of Punjab from April 26 with occasional gaps.
As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave will likely enter western parts of Pakistan on 24th April (night). It will likely grip most upper parts of the country on 26th April.
Under the influence of this weather system, rain-wind/thunderstorms with few moderate to heavy falls are expected in Murree, Galyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Pakpattan and Sahiwal from 26th to 29th April (morning).
Rain-wind/thunderstorms are also expected in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Kot Addu, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar with occasional gaps from 26th to 28th April. Hailstorms are also expected at isolated places during the period.
Possible Impacts and advises:
Heavy rainfall may cause landslides in Murree and Galyat from 27th to 29th April. Windstorm/hailstorm and lightning may affect human life, standing crops, loose structures like electric poles and solar panels during the period. Farmers are advised to manage their crops keeping in view the weather conditions. Tourists are advised to avoid unnecessary traveling particularly from 26h to 29th April. Temperatures are likely to drop during the wet spell.
