LAHORE – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rain-wind/thunderstorms and isolated hailstorms in Lahore and parts of Punjab during the weekend.
As per the synoptic situation, a strong westerly wave prevails over western parts of Pakistan. It may grip most parts of the country on 13th April and may persist in upper parts till 15th April.
Under these conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorms are likely in Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Khushab and Sargodha, Noor Purr Thal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Sahiwal, Multan Bahawalpur, Kot Addu, Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur on Friday night. Hailstorms are also expected at isolated places during the period.
On Saturday and Sunday, rain-wind/thunderstorms are likely in Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bhakkar, Leh, Multan, Pakpattan, Sahiwal, Kot Addu, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar. Heavy falls and hailstorms are also expected at isolated places during the forecast period.
Lahore’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 34-36 degrees Celsius on Saturday and 32-34 C on Sunday.
Meanwhile, dry weather prevailed in the port city and most parts of the province during the last 24 hours. Bahawalpur remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature reached 39 C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 23 per cent.
In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 35 C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 24 per cent.
