Rain, hailstorm likely in Karachi, Hyderabad, parts of Sindh

KARACHI – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted cloudy weather with rain-wind/thunderstorms and isolated hailstorms for parts of Sindh on Thursday evening/night, Friday and Saturday.

As per the synoptic situation, a strong westerly wave prevails over western parts of Pakistan. It may grip most parts of the country tonight and persist till Sunday (March 03).

Under the influence of this weather system, partly cloudy weather with rain-wind/thunderstorm is expected in Dadu, Noushero Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mohenjo Dharo, Jacobabad and Kashmore on Thursday evening/night.

On Friday and Saturday, rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in Karachi, Hyderabad, Dadu, Thatta, Badin, Jamshoro, Noushero Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad, Mirpurkhas, Khairpur, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Mohenjo-Dharo and Larkana. Isolated heavy falls and hailstorms are also likely during the period. Heavy falls may generate urban flooding and wind/thunderstorm may damage loose structures like electric poles and solar panels.

Karachi’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 16-18 degrees Celsius on Friday and 15-17 C on Saturday.

Hyderabad’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 15-17 C on Friday and 14-16 C on Saturday.

Meanwhile, dry weather prevailed in most districts of Sindh during the last 24 hours. Mithi and Mohenjo-Daro remained the coldest places in the province where temperature dropped to 11 C. In Mithi, relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 60 per cent. In Mohenjo-Daro, relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 83 per cent.

In Karachi, minimum temperature was recorded at 17 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 55 per cent.

In Hyderabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 16 C. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 62 per cent.
