LAHORE – Rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Wednesday and the next two days.
As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave is likely to enter western parts of Pakistan on Wednesday. It will grip upper and central parts of the country on Thursday and persist till March 31.
Under the influence of this weather system, rain-wind/thunderstorms are likely in Murree, Galyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha and Mianwali with occasional gaps on Wednesday and the following two days. Rain-wind/thunderstorms are also expected in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Pakpattan, Sahiwal, Kot Addu, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar with occasional gaps on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Isolated windstorms/hailstorms are also expected in the province during the forecast period.
Moderate to heavy rainfall may trigger landslides in Murree and Galiyat on March 29 and March 30. Windstorm/hailstorms and lightning may damage standing crops, and loose structures like electric poles, vehicles and solar panels. Tourists and farmers are advised to remain cautious during the wet period. Temperatures are likely to drop during the wet spell.
In Lahore, maximum temperature will likely remain between 28-30 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and 27-29 C on Thursday.
Meanwhile, dry weather prevailed in Lahore and most parts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.
Bahawalpur remained the hottest place in Punjab where maximum temperature reached 38 C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 39 per cent.
In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 30 C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 57 per cent.
