LAHORE – The much-anticipated program ‘Honhaar Scholarship Program’ was launched at Punjab University today on Wednesday to provide financial support to students across the region. The new initiative aims to enhance access to higher education, and to create brighter futures for youth through academic excellence. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz rolled out the program to help exceptional students overcome financial barriers and pursue higher education in their chosen fields.

Honahar Scholarship Programme
During the ceremony, Punjab Chief Minister distributed scholarship cheques to students, showing program’s commitment to fostering educational growth. CM introduced an online e-portal, allowing students to easily apply and manage their scholarships digitally.
Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat also highlighted significant impact of the initiative. He shared that initiative, with a budget of Rs 130 billion, will assist around thousand of students each year, underscoring the government’s dedication to empowering the younger generation.

So far, 68,000 students over five dozen universities, 359 colleges, and 12 medical colleges have applied for the Honhaar Scholarship Program, reflecting the high demand for educational support in the region.
The scholarship initiative is seen as a major step in ensuring that deserving students have the resources they need to pursue higher education and reach their academic goals.
Who Can Apply?

| Eligibility for MBBS/BDS | Students in the first year of MBBS or BDS in 2024 are eligible. |
