LAHORE – School winter vacations in Punjab are set to end on June 9, but students and their parents eye another extension as cold wave grips the province.

As students are looking for a second extension in holidays, the interim Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi shared an update on possibility of extending school holidays beyond January 9, 2024, amid weather conditions.

In a media talk, Naqvi said the government has made no decision about the extension and would consider additional holidays on the suggestions of the education department.

The acting Chief Minister added that the education department will make a final decision and will update the provincial administration, in light of harsh weather conditions, especially dense fog.

CM also expressed concern about the alarming increase in smog as Lahore and other cities topped the grim list of cities with poor air quality.

Let it be known that Met Office predicted now respite in a cold snap.

In the wake of extreme weather conditions, Punjab and KP extended winter vacations until January 9, that were originally scheduled to end on December 31.

Winter Vacations Extended

AJK government extended winter holidays in all schools amid cold wave. Schools’ winter vacations have been extended as cold wave gripped parts of Pakistan, with temperatures falling low. The extreme cold weather makes it difficult for school-going children to continue educational activities.

The government issued a notification about an extension in all government and privately run schools.

Schools winter vacations extended till January 15
