Punjab changes School Timings amid blistering heat

LAHORE – The government of Punjab announced new school timings to prevent children and staff from blistering heat as temperature shoots up to 45 degrees celsius.

A notification shared by School Education Department said the classes in Punjab schools will start at 7:00am to 11:30am while the regular classes would conclude at 10:30am on Fridays.

The new school timings are for the month of May and summer vacations will start from starting of June 1, 2024 as the extreme temperature grips parts of country.

Monday – Thursday 7:00am – 11:30am
Friday 7:00am – 10:30am

Punjab heatwave alert

Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) shared update about heat wave for Punjab from May 21 to 27, with temperatures expected to be six degrees above normal.

PDMA has also notified the health, irrigation, construction and communications, local government, and advised the public to remain vigilant and take appropriate measures to stay safe during the anticipated heat and temperature fluctuations.
