Says we will do everything to defeat the virus in the province

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Wednesday revealed that the Punjab government has allocated Rs1.5 billion for the purchase of over a million coronavirus vaccines.
Presiding over a meeting here on Wednesday, the chief minister met officials of the health department and reviewed the virus situation in the province.
The chief minister discussed at lengthen and decided increase in both the number of vaccination and centres across Punjab.
Residents can register themselves for vaccination by messaging their CNIC numbers at 1166.
“We will do everything to defeat the virus in the province,” Buzdar said. “We have approached the federal government for more ventilators and oxygen beds at hospitals in Punjab as well.”
With the start of the PKLI vaccination centre, the number of such facilities will be increased to three in Lahore, he said.
Meanwhile, the registration of quinquagenarian has been started as the eligible persons are registering themselves by sending their CNIC numbers to 1166.
The Punjab government is also in contact with the federal government for ensuring the availability of oxygen in hospitals for corona patients and there will be no shortage of oxygen for this purpose, the CM assured.
He apprised the participants that every possible facility was being provided to the districts with the ratio of a more positive case.
However, active support of the people is important to get rid of this virus and the people can remain safe by following necessary precautions, concluded the CM.
The meeting was attended by Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid, SACM Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan and others.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar expressed a deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of the wife of former National Assembly Speaker Hamid Nasir Chattha and mother of Muhammad Ahmad Chattha.
In a condolence message, the CM has extended sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the heirs to bear the loss with equanimity.
On the other hand, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar sought a report from RPO Sargodha about the injury of a rescue official due to kite string in Bhakhar.
The CM directed the administration to provide the best treatment facilities to the injured and reiterated that a dangerous activity like the flying of kites with metal strings cannot be allowed.
