PTI’s Aliya Hamza gets bail in May 9 Violence Case

LAHORE – Relief for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf activist Aliya Hamza who gets bail in case related to riots on May 9.

A court in Gujranwala released PTI leader with a bond of Rs 50,000. In previous proceedings, another court had given Aliya a four-day remand, which was less than what the police requested.

On June 6, she was arrested again in connection with a different case related to the May 9 riots. She was picked up outside Sargodha jail and then sought by the Gujranwala police for further charges.

Aliya Hamza is facing multiple charges along with several PTI leaders for vandalism from nationwide riots that followed the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan on May 9.

The situation escalated when PTI supporters attacked Jinnah House, leading to numerous arrests and injuries to both protesters and army personnel.

Aliya Hamza Malik

Aliya Hamza Malik previously served as Member of the National Assembly from August 2018 to January 2023, representing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). She was appointed Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Textile in 2018. She resigned from National Assembly in January 2023.

In 2024 general elections, Aliya lost as an independent candidate supported by PTI to Hamza Shehbaz Sharif. She also faced legal issues, and was arrested several times along with Sanam Javed and other PTI leaders.
