Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh President and former Federal Minister Syed Ali Haider Zaidi held a press conference on Monday at the PTI Sindh Secretariat in Karachi to expose the recent scandal involving the Sindh Local Government Department.
Besides Zaidi, the following ex chief ministers of Sindh Liaquat Jatoi, Ghous Ali Shah, Senior leader PTI Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Gul Muhammad Rind, Agha Arsalan and Ghulam Rasool Unnar were present along with PTI Sindh Information Secretary Arsalan Taj MPA.
The PTI Sindh President opened the press conference by expressing his sympathies and prayers for the people of Turkiye suffering through an earthquake that took place this morning.
Zaidi pointed out that a mega scandal was exposed by the Secretary of the Sindh Local Government Board, Zameer Abbasi, at the end of last month regarding 5500 ghost employees within the Sindh Local Government Department. However, he lamented the fact that after this discovery, Zameer Abbasi was dishonorably dismissed by Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah.
The PTI Sindh President states that salaries were paid to these ghost employees in their bank accounts in Sindh Bank and likely cost the taxpayers of Sindh billions of rupees per month. Imagine, this is only one department out of 38 departments under the Sindh Government. Mr. Zaidi wondered why this scandal isn’t being noticed by relevant institutions like NAB, Anti-Corruption Cell, the judiciary and the media.
Zaidi mentioned that the real purpose of hiring ghost employees within the Sindh Government departments is to rig elections. These employees end up being appointed as Presiding Officers when elections occur, just like the recent local government elections in Karachi and Hyderabad in January.
Regarding the All-Parties Conference (APC) of the PDM Government, the PTI Sindh President described it as a drama when all these parties are present in the parliament except PTI and Sheikh Rashid. Then why can’t this discussion occur in the National Assembly? The insistence of the Imported Government on the attendance of PTI in the APC is an admission by the PDM that no political decision can be made without Imran Khan and PTI. Also, this reveals that PDM is trying to run away from the elections.
Zaidi questioned how by-polls of 70 National Assembly seats could occur in March, but provincial elections in KPK and Punjab can’t happen due to uncertain security situations. Even though, by-polls would also take place in these two provinces where it’s supposedly “unsafe”.
The PTI Sindh President suggested that, similar to the Allied Forces who occupied Nazi Germany after World War II, and initiated a de-Nazification campaign to rid the population of Nazi ideology and officials, a de-Zardarification campaign is required in Sindh. Zaidi vowed to conduct a de-Zardarification campaign to free Sindh of the Zardari mafia and Zardariism when PTI forms the next Sindh Government.
