ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf again challenged the Pakistani government, announcing to hold protest at Islamabad’s D-Chowk on October 15 amid special arrangements in capital city for Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.

A social media post shared on X said a demonstration will be held in heart of Islamabad to demand the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. The party revealed it will cancel other planned protests in Punjab to focus on the D-Chowk event.

For the unversed, PTI is planning protest amid Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in which Indian Foreign Minister, Chinese premier are expected to visit.

SCO Moot consists of member states including India, China, and Russia is recognized as major economic and security organization. To ensure security during the summit, the government has already deployed military personnel in Islamabad.

Several delegations and 200 members of international media, including representatives from Indian media, are expected to cover the event.

PTI leaders said final details of protest will be announced by October 14. He indicated that the new protest plan could extend nationwide, beyond just urban areas.
