Protection Centre opened for transgenders

Police ‘Tohaffaz Markaz’ (Protection Centre) has been established for redressing grievances of transgender community, sexually assaulted and victim of domestic violence and other helpless people who avoid visiting police station at SDPO Office Hafizabad under the people friendly vision of Inspector General Police Punjab Dr.Usman Anwar.

District Police Officer Dr. Fahad Ahmad, Transgender Saima, Special Person and prominent social worker Rukhsana Bhatti inaugurated the Police Protection Centre. President District Bar Hafizabad Malik Waqas Ahmad Awan, President Awami Mehaz Rana Khalid Mehmood and a large number of other people attended the inaugural ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, DPO said that all necessary online facilities will be available at the ‘Tohaffaz Markaz’ for resolving problems of transgender community, victims of sexually harassed and domestic violence and other helpless people who hesitated to attend police stations due to different reasons.

He said that a educated person was appointed as Victim Protection Focal Person amongst transgender for promoting sense of security among transgender community and women while Focal Person would be played his role to bridge gap between police.
