The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has praised Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s compelling address during the 17th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, highlighting his articulation of national issues as reflective of a true people’s leader. PPP Parliamentarians Central Secretary Information and Member of the National Assembly, Shazia Atta Marri, stated that Chairman Bilawal embodies direct and transparent politics.

She emphasized, “When the people of Pakistan are in distress, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will raise his voice.” Marri criticized the federal government’s unilateral decision-making, particularly the plan to construct six new canals from the Indus River, calling it a breach of the IRSA Act and the 1991 Water Accord. She warned of severe consequences if the government continues bypassing provincial concerns.

She also condemned the federal government’s failure to convene a Council of Common Interests (CCI) meeting, labeling it a constitutional violation. Comparing development allocations, she highlighted the disparity in the federal PSDP, which allocated Rs 693.4 billion for Punjab but only Rs 77.2 billion for Sindh. Marri echoed Bilawal’s call for political and economic stability, relief from inflation, and poverty alleviation.

She criticized the government for presenting misleading statistics that fail to address the ground realities. She lauded the PPP’s legacy under Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto for equipping Pakistan with nuclear and missile technology. “If Pakistan’s defense assets are ever under threat, the entire nation must unite to defend them,” she reiterated. Addressing international criticism, Marri took aim at pro-Israel lobbyists targeting Pakistan’s defense capabilities. She challenged political opponents, particularly Imran Khan, to denounce such actions and accused him of remaining silent on critical national issues. Marri reaffirmed the PPP’s commitment to protecting Pakistan’s interests, rejecting divisive politics. She condemned the federal and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments for neglecting Parachinar, urging immediate action to support its residents.

The PPP also celebrated the overwhelming public participation during the commemoration of Benazir Bhutto’s martyrdom in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, terming it a testament to the people’s dedication to her mission and Bilawal’s leadership. With an emphasis on resolving pressing national issues, Marri reiterated the PPP’s focus on unity, justice, and progress for Pakistan.
