Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has said that Punjab Police is fully confident and campaign, voting day police teams will make all election processes transparent and secure throughout the province. He expressed these views while presiding high level meeting.
He affirmed the police’s commitment to collaborating with national institutions to maintain peace during the elections.
He emphasised strict legal action against any attempts to breach the Election Commission’s code of conduct, asserting a firm stance against those violating the law.
IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar said that there are total of 49 thousand 956 polling stations across the province, according to the security audit, 5577 polling stations have been declared as highly sensitive 14056 as sensitive and 30323 are placed on normal category, more than 01 lakh 30 thousand officers and officials of all units including Special Branch, CTD will be posted on election security duty. IG Punjab said that CCTV cameras will be installed at all polling stations in the province, a strict watch will be kept on the evil elements, monitoring and control rooms have been activated at the provincial, regional, district and divisional levels. Dr Usman Anwar said that 23 thousand new cameras have been installed at the sensitive polling stations of the province and these 23,000 newly installed cameras are being added to the ongoing Safe City projects in 21 cities. IG Punjab said that the Safe City Headquarters staff will monitor all the activities and happening on the polling stations, Safe Cities Authority will provide the DPOs with its developed modern monitoring system. Dr. Usman Anwar said that Punjab police is in close coordination with all security agencies, armed forces, district administration all relevant institutions. Dolphin Squad, Elite, QRF Force, SHOs teams will be continuously present in the field and aerial firing, fighting and any effort to sabotage the electoral process will be dealt with indiscriminately.
