The district police today (Sunday) have foiled an attempt to smuggle rare breeds of hawks and falcons from Balochistan to Karachi.
According to details, the district police carried out a raid near Lucky roundabout in Karachi’s Mochko area and recovered nine rare breeds of falcon and hawk.
A police spokesperson said, “Two accused were trying to shift the birds in a car from Balochistan to Karachi when they were arrested by police.”
The arrested accused were later shifted to the police station for further investigation.
The arrested accused were identified as Mohammad Bakhsh and Liaqat Ali. A case has been registered against the culprits under Section 54/550 ZF.
Further action against the accused will be taken by the Wildlife Department.
Earlier on October 15, Anti Smuggling Organization Customs Preventive force, on a tip-off, raided a site in Karachi’s Gizri area where the trade of breed eagles was reportedly taking place.
During the operation, the authority recovered more than 70 rare breed eagles, unknown men showed up and ambushed the personnel.
