Inspector General of Police Punjab Inam Ghani claimed on Saturday to have arrested a citizen allegedly involved in rape and killing of a minor girl student in Qila Deedar Singh, Gujranwala.
He was of the view that police arrested the accused within 24 hours which was proof of smart and community policing because of the cooperation of citizens and the police professional skills.
Thanks to their professionalism, the police arrested the accused in a very short time and now like Zainab abuse Kasur case and Lahore Sialkot Motorway case, no effort will be spared in convicting the accused in this case.
The IG Punjab commended the officers and personnel of Gujranwala Police for the immediate arrest of the accused involved in this tragic incident and directed the RPO and CPO Gujranwala to personally visit Qila Deedar Singh to meet the bereaved family, citizens and media representatives. Meet and thank the people for their full cooperation and trust.
IG Punjab further said that mutual cooperation and trust of police and citizens is key in eradicating crime from the society, therefore police citizens should improve their relations with the public through best service delivery.
He further said that Punjab Police would continue to take all possible steps to protect the lives and properties of the people.
